Eyelash Extensions: Pros and Cons
Although it’s semi-permanent, eyelash extensions are a great way to enhance eyelashes without mascara or ‘falsies’. Unlike other lash enhancements that only last a day these lashes will last for several weeks.
When applied properly by a licensed and trained professional, eyelash extensions are safe to use, and a good way to improve the look of natural lashes. But considerable skill is required by the technicians, because poorly applied lashes of the wrong adhesive may cause infection, irritation, and even permanent loss of the natural lashes.
Unlike false eyelashes, which are a single strip of lashes that attach to the eyelid, eyelash extensions are individual lashes that attach directly to your natural lashes, one at a time. This takes time to do correctly, especially the first time, but the results last a month or two. And subsequent visits need only ‘top up’ the lashes that have grown out.
Eyelash extensions will remain intact for the average growth cycle of the natural lashes. This means around six weeks to two months. After this time some maintenance is required to keep the extensions looking fresh and natural. Shorter appointment can replace the lashes as they have grown out.
There are various different Eyelash extensions materials. These include synthetics, such as faux mink and plastic fibers, or natural materials, such as mink or silk.

The different lashes are attached with Medical-grade glues. They’re fume-free and nonirritating for most skin types, designed to withstand sweat, moisture and oil. Though you need to avoid hot showers and saunas for a day after first getting your extensions you do not need to worry about them after this time. They will stay put until the natural lash below naturally grows out.
